Summary:
The Artistic series is arranged by artist. The Alwin Nikolais sub series includes: Choroscript, 插图, Production Papers 和 手稿. The Murray Louis sub series includes manuscripts of plays, video performances, magazine article manuscripts, book manuscripts 和 typescripts of interviews. The Alwin Nikolais 和 Murray Louis sub series contains the manuscripts for The Nikolais/Louis Dance Technique: A philosophy 和 method of modern dance, including the Unique Gesture. Deposits have been received from 2001-2011.
The Alwin Nikolais sub series consists of Choroscript, 插图, Production Papers, 和 手稿. The Choroscript files include original manuscripts from the text, Choroscript: Movement Analysis Notation, lesson plans, photographs, 和 articles. The 插图 files contain drawings of choreographic works, costumes 和 set designs. The Production Papers include lighting plots, theater designs, 提示书, descriptions of costumes, 和 slide projection negatives. The 手稿 sub series consists of papers 和 notes on pedagogy, autobiographical writings, 讲座, 和 notes on touring.
The Murray Louis sub series includes manuscripts for magazine articles 和 books, scripts from video productions 和 plays, 和 transcripts of interviews 和 speeches. 手稿 for published books include 在跳舞 和 Murray Louis on Dance. 手稿 for a Dance Magazine column titled “On Then 和 Now” are included. Video scripts are from the series, Dance as an Art Form. Play scripts were created at the Henry Street Playhouse 和 performed by the Young People’s Theater Workshop in the 1950’s 和 1960’s. Transcripts of interviews include a series from the 1980’s with Dance Educators 和 speeches from numerous academic 和 award ceremonies.
The Alwin Nikolais 和 Murray Louis sub series includes manuscripts 和 a copy of The Nikolais/Louis Technique: a philosophy 和 method of modern dance including the unique gesture, a collaborative project of both artists.
